NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona goalkeeper Nicole Schwartz, of Clifton, New Jersey, was chosen as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer.

Schwartz surrendered just one goal in two starts at keeper for the Lions last week, helping her team go 1-0-1 in AMCC play.

In last Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at La Roche, Schwartz made six saves between the pipes to blank the Redhawks. She helped lead the Lions to a 3-1 road win over Alfred State College on Saturday, yielding just one goal while making three stops to notch her second victory of the season.

On the week, Schwartz went 1-0-1 with nine saves while compiling a .900 save percentage. She currently ranks fourth in the AMCC in goals-against average (2.20) while being fifth in saves (42).

Penn State Altoona women’s soccer is 2-6-2 overall, including a 2-0-1 mark within the AMCC. The Lions’ next game is at home this Wednesday, Oct. 4, versus conference foe Pitt-Greensburg.
