NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball’s outside hitter Avery Farabaugh, of Ebensburg, was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 22.
Farabaugh continued his strong start to the 2024 season on Saturday in the Lions’ tri-match split with nonconference opponents Elizabethtown College and Lancaster Bible College.
Farabaugh helped power Penn State Altoona to its first win of the season in the Lions’ 3-1 victory over Elizabethtown to start Saturday’s action, putting up a career-high 22 kills to lead his team with 22 points. In Penn State Altoona’s 3-1 loss to Lancaster Bible later that afternoon, he again led the Lions in points and kills, totaling 16 points on 14 kills, two block assists, and a service ace.
On the week, Farabaugh recorded 38 points (4.8 points per set) and 36 kills (4.5 kills per set) while compiling a .260 attack percentage. Through four matches this season, he is second in the AMCC in kills per set (3.5) and third in points per set (3.9).
This is Farabaugh’s first career AMCC player of the week award.
Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball is off to a 1-3 start this season. The Lions return to action on Saturday, Jan. 27, when the team will hit the road to compete in another nonconference tri-match. The Lions will start the day against the host school, Wilkes University, at noon, then face Manhattanville College at 2 p.m.
