Hard Freight Café open mic event set for Nov. 29

ALTOONA, Pa. — Hard Freight Café, an open mic event, will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona.

Attendees are invited to read or perform their own work or share a favorite piece of poetry or prose. Yaw Agawu-Kakraba, professor of Spanish and African studies, will kick off the event by reading from his debut novel, “The Restless Crucible.”

Hard Freight Café is sponsored by the English program and "Hard Freight," Penn State Altoona’s online student literary magazine.

Nov. 29 at midnight is also the deadline for fall 2022 submissions to "Hard Freight." Up to three entries per student in the categories of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, drama, visual art and multimedia work (such as original music, short videos, etc.) may be submitted online.
