NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona first-year student-athlete Madison Coleman (Altoona, Pennsylvania/Tyrone) was selected as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Women’s Swimmer of the Week on Dec. 6.

Coleman helped lead the Penn State Altoona women’s swimming team to its first-ever win over AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend during the Lions’ home meet on Dec. 4. The first-year student had three individual first-place finishes and was also part of the relay team that provided the go-ahead points for Penn State Altoona in the final event of the meet.

Coleman’s first win of the meet came in the 200 Yard Freestyle when she earned a time of 2:05.71. She clinched her second victory in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.11, and she sealed the trifecta by taking first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:47.32. Coleman combined with her teammates to win the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a total time of 3:58.30, with the result pushing the Lions to a 132-125 win on the day.

This is Coleman’s first career AMCC Swimmer of the Week award.

Penn State Altoona women’s swimming is 3-2 in dual meets this season. The Lions return to action on Friday, Dec. 10 for their final event of the semester, when the team travels to take on non-conference opponent Lycoming College at 6 p.m.
