ALTOONA, Pa. — “Nature and Space,” a body of work by local artist Sam Dietze, will run from Jan. 30 through Feb. 9 in the McLanahan Gallery of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Dietze is a plein air and space artist who enjoys painting nature subjects, landscapes, and astronomical skyscapes. He draws inspiration from the colors of nature, as well as astronomy photos or images from his own imagination. The paintings in this exhibition include astronomy-themed artwork and outdoor scenes, which Dietze explains interact in a complementary nature with one another.

Dietze has been painting and exhibiting his art for nearly 30 years in local and national shows for artists with disabilities. He holds degrees in astronomy from Penn State and astro-geophysics from the University of Colorado. He is a member of Art in Common and the International Association of Astronomical Artists.

The galleries are open Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and during all performances and events. For further information, call the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 814-949-5452.
