NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — Penn State Altoona student-athlete Nicky Riscica, of Newtown, was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Men’s Golfer of the Week on Sept. 9.

Riscica, in his first season with the Penn State Altoona men’s golf program, got his Lions career off to a strong start last weekend, when he tied for ninth place out of 110 individuals during the two-day Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic.

In round one of the classic last Friday, Sept. 6, at Penn State Altoona’s home course, Sinking Valley Country Club, Riscica shot 1-over-par, firing a 73 for the Lions’ low score of the day. He followed that up with a 77 in round two on Saturday, Sept. 7, when play shifted to Summit Country Club.

Riscica’s two-round total of 150 tied for the lowest score of any Penn State Altoona golfer who competed in the tournament, helping the Lions secure a seventh place finish out of 20 teams.

Penn State Altoona men’s golf hits the road for its next event, as the Lions head to Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg next week to compete in The Gauntlet, presented by Premier Collegiate Tournaments, on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 15 and 16.
