NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. — In the first round of weekly awards this spring sports season, Penn State Altoona second-year right-hander Tristin Lockett (Mifflin County, Pennsylvnia/Mifflin County) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday, Feb. 21.
Lockett, a transfer from Division II Lock Haven University, made his Penn State Altoona debut on the mound during Sunday’s season-opening doubleheader at Hood College.
Lockett started game one of the twinbill and pitched three innings while operating on a pitch count. The right-handed hurler limited Hood to just one unearned run on two walks and a hit. He struck out six batters and finished his day with a no decision.
Penn State Altoona won game one 9-4, then suffered a 5-0 loss in game two.
Penn State Altoona baseball is 1-1 following its opening weekend of the 2022 season. Next up for the Lions is the team’s annual trip to compete in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, where the team will play 10 games from March 5-12 against Division III opponents from around the country. Penn State Altoona will open its week in Florida against the Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, March 5, in a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. in Auburndale.
