Outback Bowl travel, tickets and event info available

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — There’s still time to join the Penn State Nittany Lions when they face the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1, 2022.

In addition to traveling to the Outback Bowl with the Official Penn State Bowl Tour, there are additional opportunities for Penn Staters to engage with alumni and fans in Tampa leading up to the game. And if you aren’t traveling, you can connect with fellow Penn Staters, as many of the Alumni Association's alumni chapters will host watch parties. Full details are below.

Tour packages

New hotel packaged added 

Space is limited.

Official bowl travel packages include hotel accommodations, bus transportation, welcome reception, pregame tailgate and more on the tour from On Location - Anthony Travel, the official travel partner of the Penn State Alumni Association, the Nittany Lion Club, and Penn State Athletics. Bowl game tickets

Tickets are available and can be purchased online. For assistance, call 1-800-NITTANY from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or visit the Athletic Ticket Office in the Bryce Jordan Center in person from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. You also can email golions@psu.edu.

On-site media coverage

The Alumni Association will provide on-site social media coverage of the bowl experience, including video coverage, photography, feature stories and livestreaming, including of the pep rally, if possible. Penn Staters are encouraged to follow the Alumni Association on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to stay connected and for opportunities to share your travel experiences and favorite memories of the season.

Volunteer service project

On Dec. 31, the Penn State Alumni Association and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association will "Team Up & Clean-Up!" The organizations have partnered with Keep Pinellas Beautiful to organize a beach cleanup at Gandy Beach. The volunteer effort will start at 9:30 a.m. and finish by 11:30 a.m. Gandy Beach is only about a 15-minute drive from downtown Tampa. An event reminder with directions and any additional details will be sent to everyone who registers the day before the event. Volunteers are encouraged to show off their school spirit by wearing their favorite team apparel.

New Year’s Eve parade/pep rally

Ybor City is the site of this festive celebration featuring the Outback Bowl New Year's Eve parade and pep rally. The parade will feature floats and marching bands, including the Blue Band and Arkansas’ school band. The Pep Rally features a battle of the bands and cheerleaders from both universities. The events are free and family friendly. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs along Seventh Avenue.

Watch parties

Alumni Association chapters will host watch parties across the country to cheer on the Nittany Lions. Visit the Alumni Association’s alumni chapters page to find a watch party near you. Also, alumni and fans are encouraged to share their watch party videos and photos, along with their best wishes for the Nittany Lions, within the Alumni Association’s Facebook event for watch parties.
