Seven elected to serve on Alumni Council

Seven alumni leaders have been voted onto Alumni Council — the Penn State Alumni Association’s governing board — and will begin their terms July 1.

New members elected to serve on Alumni Council, along with their vote totals, are:

  • Kristen L. Conti (2,424 votes)
  • Kelly Gibson Caplan (1,967 votes)
  • Denise Corcoran (1,846 votes)
  • Darlene Ann Dunay (1,719 votes)
  • Brian W. Tobin (1,717 votes)
  • Isabella Webster (1,676 votes)
  • Brian M. Sielski (1,604 votes)

Each of these seven alumni will serve a three-year term from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2025. For full information on Alumni Council, visit the Alumni Association’s website.  

Alumni Council is an all-volunteer governing body that advises and guides the Penn State Alumni Association on programs and initiatives to uphold its mission of service and support to Penn State. Alumni members of the Alumni Association are eligible to vote in the annual election, which takes place online.

Of the 119,517 eligible voters, 6,867 voted, for a voting percentage of 5.75%. The election was administered and results were certified by Votenet Solutions Inc., of Washington, D.C.

Following is a brief biography of each newly elected Alumni Council member: 

  • Kristen L. Conti, class of 2005, Bellisario College of Communications, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.; Conti is a marketing assistant in the Anheuser-Busch Division of Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale.
  • Kelly Gibson Caplan, class of 1991, College of the Liberal Arts, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; Caplan is a customer engagement and advocacy division manager at WSSC Water.
  • Denise Corcoran, class of 1989, College of Education, Conyngham, Pennsylvania; Corcoran is the executive director at Anthracite Region Center for Independent Living.
  • Darlene Ann Dunay, class of 1979, Eberly College of Science, Old Forge, Pennsylvania; State College, Pennsylvania; Dunay is a family medicine doctor (Neonates through Geriatrics)
  • Brian W. Tobin '80 Agr, 1989, College of Health and Human Development, Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; Tobin is the executive director for Synergy Global Health Foundation Inc.
  • Isabella Webster, class of 2020, College of Information Sciences and Technology, Bucks County, Pennsylvania; Webster is the director of mentorship at Girls Code the World.
  • Brian M. Sielski, class of 1988, College of Engineering, Pequannock, New Jersey; Sielski is a principal engineer at Tetra Tech Inc.

In addition, and in accordance with the bylaws, the officers of the Alumni Association will be appointing seven additional members of Alumni Council. The seven appointments will be announced in the near future.
