Seven new alumni leaders elected to serve on Alumni Council

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Seven alumni leaders have been voted onto Alumni Council — the Alumni Association’s governing board — and will begin their terms July 1.

New members elected to serve on Alumni Council, along with their vote totals, are:

  • Catherine "Katie" Dunn, class of 1991, Smeal College of Business: 3,978
  • Lori Bowers Uhazie, class of 1982, Bellisario College of Communications: 3,742
  • Robert Nagy, class of 1983, College of Engineering: 3,583
  • Eric J. Young, class of 1980, College of the Liberal Arts: 3,294
  • Maddy Pryor, class of 2013, Bellisario College of Communications: 3,003
  • Jonathan Savage, class of 1982, College of Earth and Mineral Sciences: 2,786
  • Tiziana Mazzarella, class of 1990, College of Agricultural Sciences: 2,726

Alumni Council is an all-volunteer governing body that advises and guides the Penn State Alumni Association on programs and initiatives to uphold its mission of service and support to Penn State. Alumni members of the Alumni Association are eligible to vote in the annual election, which takes place online.

Of the 123,871 eligible voters, 9,377 voted, for a voting percentage of 7.57%. The election was administered and results were certified by Votenet Solutions Inc., of Washington, D.C.

In addition, and in accordance with the bylaws, the officers of the Alumni Association have appointed seven new members of Alumni Council for a three-year term, and an additional member for a one-year term. The new appointments are:

  • Marie Conteh, class of  2004, College of Health and Human Development
  • Lisette Garcia, class of 1996, College of the Liberal Arts
  • Savonne Johnson, class of 2008, College of Health and Human Development
  • Dave McClung, class of 1979, College of Health and Human Development
  • Laura McKinney, class of 2020, Bellisario College of Communications
  • Jeremy O’Mard, class of 2013, Penn State Behrend
  • KerriLaine Prunella, class of 2001, Penn State Berks
  • Dewey Traini, class of 2006, Penn State New Kensington (one-year term appointment)
