UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State School of Music, in the College of Arts and Architecture, will present a joint concert featuring the Campus Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, in Eisenhower Auditorium.
The Campus Orchestra, under the direction of graduate students Javier Gorelik and Dor Gidon Amran, will open the evening with a program showcasing both orchestral and solo works. Highlights include Beethoven’s "Symphony No. 5 in C Minor," Verdi’s "Overture to Nabucco," Saint-Saëns’ "Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor" (featuring pianist Yucheng Xu), and Rimsky-Korsakov’s "Overture to The Tsar’s Bride."
Following intermission, the Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Professor Gerardo Edelstein, will perform Leonard Bernstein’s "Overture to Candide" and Dmitry Shostakovich’s monumental "Symphony No. 5 in D Minor."
