Classical guitarist Julia Trintschuk to hold residency at School of Music

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State School of Music will host internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Julia Trintschuk for a two-day residency, Nov. 15-16, featuring a masterclass and recital that are free and open to the public. Known for her remarkable technical prowess and deep musical expression, Trintschuk will bring her distinctive artistry to Penn State's University Park campus, presenting invaluable opportunities for audiences and students alike to experience her celebrated talent. 

The residency begins with a masterclass at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in the Recital Hall, followed by a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the same location. Both events promise to showcase Trintschuk’s unique approach to the classical guitar. 

Trintschuk, a rising star in the international classical guitar scene, has captivated audiences worldwide with her performances in more than 20 countries across four continents. She has been described as “Madonna with guitar” by critics, praised for her virtuosity, effortless technique, and the emotional depth she brings to the instrument. 

Born into a musical family, Trintschuk began studying guitar with her father at the age of 4 and continued her education under the tutelage of esteemed mentors, including professors Mario Sicca and Joaquin Clerch. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany, graduating with distinction in both programs. 

Trintschuk's career is punctuated by more than 30 awards in national and international guitar competitions, such as the International Llobet Competition in Barcelona and the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb. Her repertoire spans a vast range from Renaissance to contemporary works, and she regularly collaborates with composers to premiere new pieces. Her concert engagements have included performances with leading orchestras, including the National Montenegro Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta de Malaga. 

Her residency at the Penn State School of Music offers an opportunity to witness a dynamic guitarist whose commitment to the classical guitar continues to influence and inspire audiences globally. This event is sponsored by the Classical Guitar Club and funded by the University Park Allocation Committee.
