UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An accomplished cinematographer, director and Penn State alumnus will present a free public lecture Nov. 11 on the University Park campus.
Michael Fimognari, who earned his bachelor’s degree in 1996, will discuss filmmaking and his personal experience in the industry during “An Evening with Michael Fimognari,” beginning at 7 p.m. in Carnegie Cinema. He will share his success working on independent features and larger scale films following his time at Penn State and master’s degree studies at the University of Southern California.
Widely recognized for his expertise in lighting and lensing of television series and feature films across genres, some of Fimognari’s recent work includes two of Netflix’s most-watched productions, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “The Haunting of Hill House.”
Fimognari’s work on the adaptation of Stephen King’s “Doctor Sleep” is set to release on Nov. 8. He also will make his directing debut with the Feb. 12, 2020, release of “P.S. I Still Love You,” the second film in the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy.
The event is coordinated by the Department of Film-Video and Media Studies in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.
