UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Arts and Design Research Incubator presents “The Invisible Elephant Project: 1000 voices of the Chronic Commons,” a series of events with Marina Tsaplina, founder, CEO, and creative director of The BETES Organization. There will be a performance and discussion from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and a workshop from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the ADRI (16 Borland).

This even is free and open to the public. Reserve your space at the performance and/or workshop at http://bit.ly/EventBriteElephant.

Working between the fields of theater and healthcare, Tsaplina, a performance artist and patient advocate, will give the first presentation in the ADRI’s spring 2017 lunchtime dialogue series. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch and join the conversation.

“This project addresses the highly sensitive and stigmatized topic of diabetes complications, and the complex presence of the thoughts, feelings, and experiences around living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes,” explains Tsaplina on the program’s website.

The performance and workshop will provide insight into the developing methodology and impact of The BETES Organization in using puppetry, performing objects, and theater to work across all sectors of the diabetes health ecosystem.

The Arts & Design Research Incubator (ADRI) provides support for high-impact arts and design research projects. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at 16 Borland. All events are free and open to the public, but some do require registration, as space is limited.
