The HUB-Robeson Galleries will present three art exhibits in October at different locations across the University Park campus, all by former or current Penn State students.
"Ambrosium," an exhibit of oil paintings by Ann Handy, will be on view Oct. 9 to Dec. 9 in the lobby of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center, as part of the HUB-Robeson Galleries' Art on the Move program. The inspiration for this series of paintings comes from the amazing qualities of honey, specifically its use as a religious object. Handy took inspiration for her work from aspects of religious icon painting. With honey dripping on their faces, the eyes of her subjects are often rolled up in divine contemplation or closed in divine meditation. Handy graduated from Penn State in the spring.
An exhibit of photographs by Richard Hydock will be on view Oct. 12 through Dec. 11 at North Halls Cultural Lounge, as part of the HUB-Robeson Galleries' Art on the Move program. The work exhibited displays a fascination with everyday objects and a keen awareness of the world. Hydock is a bachelor of fine arts candidate in the School of Visual Arts at Penn State. He works in many different mediums, specifically sculpture and photography.
An exhibit of paintings, "Pass Me That Glance: A Narrative of Observation," by Graham Kronk, will be on view Oct. 29 through Dec. 14 in the Cultural Lounge at West Halls, as part of the HUB-Robeson Galleries' Art on the Move program. "Pass Me That Glance" is a series of 10 paintings in which a viewer encounters visual phenomena and reflects on the nature of the "glance." Kronk received a bachelor of fine arts with honors in art from Penn State in 2006.
