Baker tells audience to 'Change the World, Not Your Body'

Jes Baker, a positive, progressive, and magnificently irreverent force to be reckoned with in the realm of self-love advocacy and mental health, will visit Penn State Berks and present her life-changing message, “Change the World, Not Your Body” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium, Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.

Baker is internationally recognized for her popular blog, "The Militant Baker." She famously took on Abercrombie & Fitch by changing their logo to “Attractive & Fat” in a mock, black-and-white series of ads that challenged the line’s branding efforts. She is a fiery body advocate, mental health professional, self-love enthusiast, professional rabble-rouser, crazy cat lady, TEDx speaker, book author, and feminist.

Through her inspiring talk, “Change the World, Not Your Body,” Baker explores the historical evolution behind our current idyllic body type, the stigma surrounding mental illness, and what we can do individually to reframe the way we perceive ourselves and others. She encourages each person to explore the correlation between weight and health, and discusses the “Health at Every Size” movement. Come ready to challenge the notion that beauty is exclusive in this powerful, passionate and progressive presentation.
