UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A Penn State summer camp that lets middle school students conduct hands-on science experiments and learn about their own genealogy will be discussed during President Eric J. Barron’s monthly WPSU show on May 21.
“Digging Deeper: Finding Your Roots” will air at 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, on WPSU-TV. Barron will welcome guests Nina Jablonski, Evan Pugh Professor of Anthropology and director of the Center for Human Evolution and Diversity; and Michael Zeman, director of the Student Engagement Network.
The trio will discuss how the camp, “Finding Your Roots,” can grow a student’s interest in science.
“The joy of discovery is critical,” Jablonksi said. “So the real key to this whole concept is not only exposing kids to science, but allowing them to be scientists themselves.”
