UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announce that the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit “Beautiful—The Carole King Musical,” about the life of the groundbreaking singer-songwriter, will make its Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State premiere with seven performances Feb. 19–24, 2019, at Eisenhower Auditorium.

The national tour of “Beautiful” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19-23 and 2 p.m. Feb. 23-24. Audio description, which is especially helpful to patrons with sight loss, will be available for the Feb. 24 matinee at no extra cost to ticket holders.

Tickets for the show go on sale to the public at 8 a.m. May 21. “Beautiful” does not qualify for a discounted Choice series. Group discounts are not available for 18-and-younger tickets. Group discounts are also not available for Friday and Saturday evening performances.

“Beautiful” tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom. She started as part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, continued her career in a relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, and later became one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

The original Broadway cast recording of “Beautiful—The Carole King Musical” won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. The production features an array of beloved songs written by the Goffin/King and Mann/Weil teams, including “I Feel the Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got a Friend” and the title song.

“Beautiful” features a book by Tony- and Academy Award-nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince.
