The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (CGNE) at Penn State will hold its sixth annual Alumni and Friends Brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8 at The Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus.

The keynote presenter will be Andrew Belser, 2017–18 Penn State Laureate and professor of movement, voice and acting in Penn State’s School of Theatre. Belser’s talk, “FaceAge: Empathy Rising Across Generations,” is based on the award-winning multimedia installation and documentary film for which he served as producer/director. FaceAge connects young adults with aging individuals to explore issues of identity, gender, sexuality and ethnicity through the lens of aging.

Penn State alumnae, doctoral students, and community members will share their thoughts on FaceAge from a nursing and research perspective and celebrate the importance of this unique collaboration between the arts and nursing.

Registered nurses can earn one continuing education contact hour for attending.

Cost of the brunch is $39 in advance and $49 at the door. Tables of eight may be reserved for $275 (a savings of nearly $5 per person). Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Janice Whitaker, CGNE administrator and community liaison, at 814-863-5614 or jmw5969@psu.edu.

The Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence seeks to improve the lives of older adults in positive and person-centered ways. This is accomplished through innovative education, rigorous scientific research, community and clinical partnerships, and various efforts to translate best practice evidence into the continuum of care for older adults.
