UNIVERSITY PARK—The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State will conclude its three-episode run of “Front Row National,” the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s free online concert series.
“Summer Evenings IV” will be available to stream for free starting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. It will be available until 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23.
Organization Co-artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han will introduce three full performances from the society’s archives. The program will include discussion among artists who have previously performed at the Center for the Performing Arts.

The program is part of the Center for the Performing Arts “Up Close and Virtual” fall season. Contributions from the members of the center and a grant from the University Park Student Fee Board help make the program free of charge.
The presentation of “Summer Evenings “IV" was recorded in August and will be introduced by Finckel and Han. The program will include three performances:
• Francesco Geminiani’s Sonata in C Major for Cello and Continuo, Op. 5, No. 3, featuring Timothy Eddy, cello; Mihai Marica, cello; and Kenneth Weiss, harpsichord;
• Joseph Haydn’s Quartet in F Major for Strings, Op. 50, No. 5, “The Dream,” featuring Orion String Quartet (Todd Phillips, violin; Daniel Phillips, violin; Steven Tenenbom, viola; and Timothy Eddy, cello); and
• Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring Suite” for Ensemble, featuring Gloria Chien, piano; Kristin Lee, violin; Chad Hoopes, violin; Arnaud Sussman, violin; Angelo Xiang Yu, violin; Matthew Lipman, viola; Paul Neubauer, viola; David Finckel, cello; Nicholas Canellakis, cello; Anthony Manzo, bass; Ransom Wilson, flute; David Shifrin, clarinet; and Marc Goldberg, bassoon.
Following the performances, Finckel and Han will host a discussion with Marica, Daniel Phillips and Lee.
Finckel and Han previously performed at the Center for the Performing Arts as a duo in 2005, and with violinist Philip Setzer in 2017 and 2018 for the Beethoven Piano Trios. Finckel also performed at Penn State—in 1990, 2002 and 2009—when he was a member of Emerson String Quartet.
