On a crisp autumn evening at the heart of State College, Centre County, the 2023 Annual Chamber Awards gathered community leaders, business professionals and local entrepreneurs to celebrate the remarkable efforts that have fueled the region's economic growth and enriched its vibrant community.
The Annual Chamber Awards recognize outstanding companies and individuals who have contributed significantly to the local economy and community. The event, hosted by the Centre County Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center on Oct. 26.
"This year's recipients embody the spirit of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business excellence in Centre County," said Greg Scott, president and CEO of the chamber. "Their dedication to advancing our community's economic prosperity and fostering a thriving environment is truly inspiring."
The awards ceremony recognized and celebrated Tourism Business Leader of the Year: Al Karosas, general manager of the Bryce Jordan Center. A Penn State alumnus, Karosas has been a part of the BJC since it opened in 1996. He also served as the first general manager for Pegula Ice Arena as he helped open the venue.
Karosas was instrumental in negotiating the Luke Combs show that will be held at Beaver Stadium in April 2024. He has served on the Penn State Coaches vs. Cancer committee and was recently appointed to the Happy Valley Sports and Entertainment Alliance Board.
