'The Color Purple' won’t be coming April 15 to Eisenhower Auditorium

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State has canceled the touring Broadway presentation of “The Color Purple,” which had been scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, at Eisenhower Auditorium.

“We deeply regret the need to cancel this performance as required under these extraordinary circumstances,” said Center for the Performing Arts Director George Trudeau, “and do so also knowing that all involved understand that this in everyone’s best interest.”

The Center for the Performing Arts will automatically refund patrons who had purchased tickets to the musical. Patrons will be refunded the original purchase price of their tickets, excluding service fees. Ticket refunds will be provided by the methods used for purchases. Tickets do not need to be returned to the Arts Ticket Center.   

If paid by cash or check, a refund check will be mailed to the ticket purchaser within two weeks. If paid by credit card, the card used will be refunded the purchase amount. The credit should be reflected on customers’ accounts within three days.

Arts ticket centers closed for walk-up services; Online purchases still available

Meanwhile, the Arts Ticket Center announced that its two locations — at Eisenhower Auditorium and Penn State Downtown Theatre — are closed for walk-up services. Purchases for Penn State Centre Stage summer presentations can still be made online or via phone, at 814-863-0255, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
