UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Penn State Commission for Women is joining the cause with a screening of “The Hunting Ground.”
Critically acclaimed, the documentary addresses the statistic that one in five women in college are sexually assaulted — yet many assaults go unreported. “The Hunting Ground” is an expose of sexual assault on U.S. college campuses, institutional cover-ups, and the social toll on victims and their families. Using real-life footage and first-person testimonies, it follows survivors as they continue to pursue their education and justice.
The screening will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in Foster Auditorium in Paterno Library and will be accompanied by a panel discussion.
Panel members will include: Paul Apicella, Penn State’s Title XI coordinator; Andrea Falzone, a psychologist with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS); Peggy Lorah, director of the Center for Women Students; and Danny Shaha, senior director of the Office of Student Conduct.
The screening is hosted by the Commission for Women’s Personal Safety and Sexual Assault Awareness Committee.
