UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Joseph Galloway, a Vietnam War correspondent, a Bronze Star Medal recipient and a best-selling author, will reflect on his 50-year long career on the next episode of WPSU-TV’s "Conversations from Penn State."

"Conversations from Penn State: Life of a War Correspondent" will air at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27 on WPSU-TV. The show can also be viewed at http://conversations.psu.edu online.

WPSU host Patty Satalia will discuss with Galloway his best-selling book "We Were Soldiers, Once … and Young," and his experiences as a “soldier’s reporter” that inspired it. The book is the basis for the 2002 film "We Were Soldiers."

Galloway recently retired as the senior military correspondent for Knight Ridder Newspapers. In the course of his career, he served as a foreign war correspondent and bureau chief for United Press International, as a senior editor and writer for U.S. News & World Report magazine and as a special consultant to General Colin Powell at the State Department. In 1998, Galloway received the only medal of valor the U.S. Army has ever awarded to a civilian for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War.

"Conversations from Penn State," with Satalia at the helm, offers thoughtful, in-depth exchanges with a broad range of remarkable people. In many cases, their trailblazing work has advanced their field, drawing national and worldwide attention.
