UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Bachelor of fine arts student Kira Robbins and Blackbox Theatre Company are combining their efforts to present “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour. Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 22-26 and April 28 in Room 119 of the Theatre Building at University Park.
Forbidden to leave his country, Soleimanpour distilled the experience of an entire generation in a wild, utterly original play. “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” is a work about contemporary Iran and of Soleimanpour’s generation — a generation born amidst the hardship of the Iran-Iraq war; a generation of computer-literate, well-informed young people who have never known an Iran other than the Islamic Republic.
This theatrical experience hopes to answer unanswerable questions about relationships, community, international cultures and theatrical environments. A short talk back will occur after every performance.
This unique show features no rehearsals, no director and no set, and a different actor reads the script cold for the first time at each performance.
Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to attend. Free tickets can be reserved online at https://whiteredpsu.eventbrite.com or at the door before each performance.
