UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An exclusive screening of the premiere episode of "The Handmaid's Tale" will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in 104 Keller Building. The session is free and open to the public.

The public screening of the Hulu series is the result of a collaboration between Hulu and Her Campus Penn State.

The series is based on the best-selling 1985 novel of the same name by Canadian author Margaret Atwood. The novel won numerous major awards and has been adapted for cinema, radio, opera, stage and, previously, TV as well. "The Handmaid's Tale" has never been out of print since its first publication.

The Hulu series, like the novel, is set in near-future New England and explores themes of women in subjugation and the various means by which they gain agency.
