CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Educational media company eMediaWorks has received a regional Emmy nomination for its program, "Close to Home: Human Trafficking, The Survivor Story," from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences - Mid-Atlantic Chapter in the public affairs program category.

"Close to Home," an original 5-part series, focuses on health and wellness issues facing the Greater Lehigh Valley region and explores themes of journey, fear, faith, hope and help. Produced by eMediaWorks and co-produced with Lehigh Valley Health Network and WLVT PBS39, the film tackles the subject of human trafficking.

Teri Haddad, executive producer, stated, “We’re blessed in the Lehigh Valley to have so many organizations serving those who are suffering. Our hope is that the 'Close to Home' series brings heightened awareness to issues in our community and encourages people to take positive action.”  

Haddad also is a business development manager at Penn State Lehigh Valley.

Last year, the series "Close to Home" received 5 regional Emmy nominations and won an Emmy for "Close to Home: Street Medicine," which focused on homelessness.  Other programs include: "Cancer Survivorship," "Depression" and "Changed by War." The programs can be viewed at eMediaworks website.

The 2019 Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards will be presented Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Wyndham Grand Downtown in Pittsburgh.
