CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Gallery at Penn State Lehigh Valley will host a new exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Albertus L. Meyers Bridge in Allentown. "Connecting for the Future: The Eighth Street Bridge Turns 100," runs Oct. 28 to Dec. 20 and features the work of roughly 30 regional artists. A special community event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at the campus in Center Valley. The exhibit and event are free and open to the public.
This exhibition will feature approximately 30 regional artists who have created art about this landmark or who will be invited to create a work of art in their medium. It is intended that the work will offer diverse approaches to making art including various media as well as representational and abstract interpretations. The exhibition will also feature artists who painted in the mid-1900s, some of whom were influential artistic leaders in the Lehigh Valley in their time. A catalog will commemorate this exhibition.
