UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Palmer Museum of Art will be presenting the 11th season of "The Art of Music," its popular music series featuring faculty and student performers from the Penn State School of Music and the community. All are invited to enjoy beautiful chamber music and virtuosic solo performances in the inspiring setting of the galleries. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

Internationally acclaimed cellist Kim Cook will perform Robert Muczynski’s “Gallery: Suite for Unaccompanied Cello” (1966), a piece inspired in part by the work of painter Charles Burchfield, at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Richard Biever, producing artistic director of FUSE Productions, directs local performers in a FUSE season preview, featuring selections from "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "Assassins," and "My Fair Lady" at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

String Quartets from the School of Music will perform at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Distinguished Professor of Music Rob Nairn, double bass, joins violist Heidi von Bernewitz and pianist Svetlana Rodionova in a performance featuring “Elegie for Solo Viola” (1944) and “Suite Italienne” for bass and piano (1934) by Igor Stravinsky at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is located on Curtin Road and admission is free. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed Mondays and some holidays.
