Experience the deliberation of a jury without receiving that dreaded letter from the court systems to report for jury duty, when Penn State York’s Penn Players take to the stage with “Twelve Angry Jurors,” at 6 p.m., on Thursday and Friday, April 21 and 22.  The play, on stage at the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center), is free and open to the public.  Tickets are not required.

“Twelve Angry Jurors,” based on the screenplay by Reginald Rose and adapted by Sherman Sergel, depicts a jury forced to consider a homicide trial. A young man has been accused of murder and the case has been tried and sent to the jury. At the beginning of their deliberations, the jury has a nearly unanimous decision of guilty, but there is just a single dissenter who voices a not-guilty vote. Throughout the play, the dissenting juror sows a seed of reasonable doubt. It is the middle of summer and not only is the temperature hot, but tempers flare as the rebellious juror continues to vote not guilty despite the pleas of fellow jurors. The fate of this young man depends on the judgement of twelve angry jurors! Whose side will you take?

The play is directed by Shelby Cooke, a Penn State York student from Hanover, Pennsylvania.
