Penn State Altoona will present "Scapin" as its spring theatre performance April 7 to 9, in the Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 general admission. Children under 12 are free and should be accompanied by an adult."Scapin" takes one scheming servant, his dull-witted sidekick, tosses in two pairs of beautiful young lovers with miserly fathers, then adds a dash of slapstick to create a recipe for a great show. This classic Moliere comedy, adapted by Bill Irwin and Mark O’Donnell, has been updated to appeal to modern audiences by bringing the language and references into the twentieth century.
"Scapin" is directed by Naomi Baker, instructor in theater and integrative arts. A talented cast of actors will bring the show to life. The role of Scapin will be played by Andrew Schaner, and his faithful sidekick, Sylvestre is played by Benjamin Dennis. Other cast members are: Erin Becker, Kayla Boucher, Luther Harlow, Lauren Henning, Rachel Lingenfelter, Jason Marcus, Kadheem McLeod, Hunter Moon, Forrest Reinhard, and E. Bernhard Warg.
Tickets for "Scapin" may be purchased at the box office, open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and before and during all performances. For further information, call 814-949-5452 or visit the Penn State Altoona website at altoona.psu.edu.
