Penn State Centre Stage 2018-19 season tickets on sale July 2

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Centre Stage will produce eight shows during the 2018–19 season. Tickets go on sale July 2.

Centre Stage, fully realized productions, will be performed in the Playhouse Theatre. Centre Stage tickets start at $18.50, Penn State students with valid PSU ID $12.50. Shows include:

  • "Legally Blonde," by Heather Hach, Laurence O'Keefe, and Nell Benjamin, guest directed by Christine O’Grady, Oct. 2–11
  • "Clybourne Park," by Bruce Norris, directed by Steve Broadnax, Nov. 6–15
  • "Hands on a Hardbody," by Doug Wright, Trey Anastasio, and Amanda Green, directed by John Simpkins, Feb. 19–March 1, 2019
  • "To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee and Christopher Sergel, directed by Susan H. Schulman, April 2–12, 2019

Off-Centre, small-scale shows, will be performed in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Centre; Off-Centre productions are general admission and $8.50. These include:

  • "Polaroid Stories," by Naomi Iizuka, Sept. 18–22
  • "Caroline, or Change," by Tonyo Kushner and Jeanine Tesori, Nov. 27–Dec. 1
  • "Violet," by Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley, Feb. 12–16, 2019
  • "Men on Boats," by Jaclyn Backhaus, April 16-20, 2019

The season kicks off with a Sneak Preview Celebration, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the Playhouse Theatre Terrace. Attendees can meet the directors, designers and students who will be producing the upcoming shows; catch a snippet of a performance or two; view designs and renderings for the upcoming season; and purchase tickets to the productions. Sneak Preview tickets are $25.

Penn State Centre Stage is the professional arm of the Penn State School of Theatre and serves as a training program for emerging theatre professionals. One of its unique attributes is that it creates collaborations between established industry professionals and theatre students from Penn State and other colleges and universities.
