Penn State Centre Stage 2023-24 season tickets on sale July 10

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Centre Stage will produce six shows during the 2023-24 season. Tickets go on sale July 10.

The season kicks off with a Sneak Preview Celebration, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, on the Playhouse Theatre stage. Attendees can meet the directors, designers, and students who will be producing the upcoming shows; catch snippets from the season; and purchase tickets to the productions. Sneak Preview tickets are $45.

"We were so pleased by recently being named among the Top 25 Drama Schools in the world by the Hollywood Reporter, but I know that our audiences who attend Centre Stage productions have recognized this excellence for years. We are exceptionally proud of the professionalism and artistry of our remarkable students, faculty and staff who produce season after season of powerful and innovative theatre," said Rick Lombardo, producing artistic director of Centre Stage and director of the School of Theatre.

Centre Stage will produce six shows during the 2023–24 season, to be performed in the Playhouse, Pavilion, and Penn State Downtown theaters. Tickets start at $20 for adults, and $15 for students. Shows include:

  • "Hit the Wall," by Ike Holter, directed by Robert W. Schneider, Oct. 3–12 
  • "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812," musical by David Malloy, directed and choreographed by Christine O'Grady, Oct. 17–29
  • "Bonnets: How Ladies of Good Breeding are Induced to Murder," by Jen Silverman, directed by Jenny Lamb, Nov. 14–Dec. 2
  • "Urinetown," musical by Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis, directed by David Kersnar, music directed by Darren Cohen, Feb. 20–March 1, 2024
  • "Tartuffe," by Moliere, directed by Sam Osheroff, March 19–30, 2024
  • "Bernarda Alba," by Michael John LaChiusa, directed and choreographed by Christopher Campbell, April 11–14, 2024
  • "Falsettos," by William Finn and James Lapine, directed by Zack Steele, April 18–21, 2024

In addition to the regular season, the School of Theatre and Centre Stage will present "Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol," original stage adaptation and direction by Rick Lombardo, original music and arrangements of traditional music by Anna Lackaff; Dec. 18–22. The production will be performed by professional artists on the school's faculty, along with students and members of the community in a truly unique town and gown event for the holiday season.
