UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Centre Stage will kick off its 2018-19 season with a Sneak Preview Celebration, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, on the Playhouse Theatre Terrace.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the directors, designers and students who will be producing the upcoming shows; catch a snippet of a performance or two; view designs and renderings for the upcoming season; and purchase tickets to the productions. Sneak Preview tickets are $25.
Centre Stage's fully realized productions will be performed in the Playhouse Theatre. Centre Stage tickets start at $18.50, Penn State students with valid PSU ID $12.50. Shows include:
- "Legally Blonde," by Heather Hach, Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, guest directed by Christine O’Grady, Oct. 2–11
- "Clybourne Park," by Bruce Norris, directed by Steve Broadnax, Nov. 6–15
- "Hands on a Hardbody," by Doug Wright, Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green, directed by John Simpkins, Feb. 19–March 1, 2019
- "To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee and Christopher Sergel, directed by Susan H. Schulman, April 2–12, 2019
Off-Centre's small-scale shows will be performed in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Centre; Off-Centre productions are general admission and $8.50. These include:
- "Polaroid Stories," by Naomi Iizuka, Sept. 18–22
- "Caroline, or Change," by Tonyo Kushner and Jeanine Tesori, Nov. 27–Dec. 1
- "Violet," by Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley, Feb. 12–16, 2019
- "Men on Boats," by Jaclyn Backhaus, April 16-20, 2019
