HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Penn State Harrisburg School of Humanities’ theatre program will present the spring musical “Avenue Q” at 7:30 p.m. on April 6 through 8 in the Student Enrichment Center theater on campus. A post-show talk back on the show’s identity themes will be held on Thursday, April 6.
"Avenue Q" tells the story of a college graduate, Princeton, as he arrives in New York City with big dreams. He finds an apartment on Avenue Q and a neighborhood filled with an array of colorful characters. Together, they struggle to find jobs, dates, and their purposes in life.
A musical by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, "Avenue Q" is "a laugh-out-loud musical comedy that’s part human, part puppet, and packed with heart! Tackling the topics of sexual identity, race, pornography, and relationships … it has a 'Sesame Street' look, but an R-rated adult storyline.”
"Avenue Q" is directed by Maria Enriquez, lecturer in theater, with music direction by Adam Gustafson, instructor in music.
