UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Don’t judge a book by its cover — or its name. The third annual "(All In) Voices" human storytelling showcase may have a new title, but its commitment to diversity and inclusion through the unique storytelling of guest “voices” will be as powerful as ever.

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, this year's event, previously called the Human Library, will kick off with the popular moderated Showcase Panel at 11 a.m. in Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library, and online via Mediasite Live with Penn State login. Then, individual storytelling sessions — once again where difficult questions can be asked and answered in a safe and supportive environment — will be held in smaller group appointments of approximately 45 minutes each, from 1-5 p.m. at various Pattee Library and Paterno Library classroom locations.

Attendees will be able to sign up to "check out" a voice with a personal story to tell — including Penn State students, faculty, staff and local community members — via online reservation at http://tinyurl.com/allinvoices2019/.

Participants can view a list of 2019's (All In) Voices and descriptions of their stories at https://sites.psu.edu/allinvoices/.

During a human storytelling showcase, selected individuals are invited to share their unique experiences during the 45-minute appointments. The volunteer “voices” are chosen from the local community and entire University population of faculty, staff and students; hail from all walks of life, ages, genders and lifestyle choices; and are willing to share their experiences with others in group conversations. They will answer participants’ honest, curious questions in an effort to challenge stereotypes and prejudice through dialogue — and difficult questions are expected, appreciated and will be answered.

(All In) Voices is sponsored by the University Libraries in cooperation with Penn State’s Adult Learner Programs and Services, Gender Equity Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, LGBTQA Student Resource Center, Multicultural Resource Center, Paul Robeson Cultural Center, Penn State Hillel, Schreyer Honors College and the University Office of Global Programs.

In the event of snowy weather, (All In) Voices will be rescheduled for Feb. 20. For further information or for questions about accommodations provided for this event, contact Megan Gilpin at mcg13@psu.edu or call 814-867-0069.
