Penn State University Press makes e-titles available during COVID-19 pandemic

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Press is among a select group of college and university presses nationwide to partner with EBSCO Information Services to provide unlimited access to Press e-books for library clients through the EBSCO platform until June 30. The Press also is offering discounted pricing to libraries through EBSCO for unlimited access to e-titles beyond that date.

In addition, more than 400 of the Press’ e-books hosted on Project Muse are available to read for free to the public through June 30, as well as more than 200 e-books hosted on JSTOR. Journals hosted on Project Muse are free through the end of May.

Penn State University Press also has signed a statement of support for the National Emergency Library, an initiative by the Internet Archive to serve the nation’s displaced learners. The collection includes over 1.4 million e-books from the 1920s to 1990s, acquired and digitized by the Internet Archive, that are not covered by other e-book collections.

“Our core mission is to make rigorously reviewed, high-quality works of scholarship and books available to readers,” said Press director Patrick Alexander. “We’re very proud to take part in initiatives that keep our books and journals in circulation during this challenging time.”

Through WebAccess login, Penn State students and employees can access JSTOR through the University Libraries via https://libraries.psu.edu/eresources/psu00720 and Project Muse via https://libraries.psu.edu/eresources/psu01334. Penn State Alumni Association members can access JSTOR and Project Muse via login to the Alumni Library Online through its databases page, https://alumni.libraries.psu.edu/databases.
