UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Press and the Eberly Family Special Collections Library will host "From Draft to Design: The Making of a Book," in the Paterno Library’s Mann Assembly Room, from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. The event will feature a pop-up exhibit of the Association of University Presses Book, Jacket, and Journal Show and a panel of publishing professionals from PSU Press.
Each year, the Association of University Presses honors the best in design from university presses across North America with their Book, Jacket, and Journal Show, featuring over 100 books, journals and book jackets.
The panel discussion will begin at 3:15; reception with light refreshments to follow. Three panelists from PSU Press will discuss the acquisitions and design process for Heather Swan’s "Where Honeybees Thrive," a PSU Press title selected for the showcase, lending unique insight into the creative work that takes a book from the manuscript stage to an award-winning, design object.
The panelists are Kendra Boileau, PSU Press assistant director and editor-in-chief; Jennifer Norton, PSU Press associate director and design and production manager; and Regina Starace, PSU Press senior designer.
