School of Music presents Dimensions in Jazz

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Esber Recital Hall will rock to the kick-off performance of Penn State's three big jazz bands at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11. "Dimensions in Jazz" will feature performances by Outer Dimensions, directed by Michael Tansley; Inner Dimensions, led by faculty members Eric Bush and Mark L. Lusk; and Centre Dimensions, Penn State's premier jazz ensemble. The director of Centre Dimensions is Dan Yoder.

Tickets are general admission $4.99/students $2. No advance purchase is available. Ticket sale begins 45 minutes prior to the concert in the lobby. This concert is available via livestream video on the Penn State School of Music website.

Centre Dimensions, the premier 20-piece jazz ensemble at Penn State, performs frequently on campus and tours throughout Pennsylvania and the East. In addition, Centre Dimensions performs and works with several internationally known artists each year. Previous guests have included Phil Woods (sax), Cyrus Chesnut (piano), Bob Mintzer (sax), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone), George Rabbai (trumpet, vocals), Frank Morgan (sax), Lynn Seaton (bass), and John Riley (drums). They perform a challenging repertoire of modern and classic jazz, as well as originals written by the director. This highly selective ensemble is open by audition to undergraduate and graduate students in all majors.
