UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — All you have to do to become a better sensual dancer is to count to four. Participants can learn the basics of bachata during a Friday Night Dance Social at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, in Room 201 of the State College Municipal Building, located at 243 S. Allen St.

The Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with the Penn State Ballroom Dance Club and State College Borough, will host the free community event in conjunction with the touring Broadway production of “Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage,” set for March 21-22 in Eisenhower Auditorium.

The bachata is a basic, four-step hip-heavy Caribbean dance sequence that was featured prominently in scenes from the popular 1987 film “Dirty Dancing” starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

No dance experience, dance partner or reservation is required for the two-hour dance social.
