UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Symphonic Band will perform its final concert of the 2017-18 school year at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in Eisenhower Auditorium. The program features William Schuman's "George Washington Bridge" conducted by Jacob Bender, a first-year graduate student in the band/wind ensemble conducting degree program, and Percy Grainger's "Mock Morris" conducted by guest conductor and faculty member Eric Bush. The conductor of the Symphonic Band is Penn State Director of Bands Dennis Glocke.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and $4 for students. Buy tickets in advance for School of Music concerts in Eisenhower Auditorium and save 40 percent. There is no limit on the number of the tickets that may be purchased. Purchases made the the day of the concert are not eligible for the discount. Note: Tickets purchased for the Concert Band performance at 7 p.m. also will admit patrons to this performance.

The Symphonic Band is a select band that utilizes the full resources of the large wind/percussion ensemble to perform outstanding works from the concert band repertory. Members of the 80-piece ensemble are selected by audition during the first week of classes each semester. The Symphonic Band presents several concerts each semester in the 2,600-seat Eisenhower Auditorium. Like all Penn State bands, the Symphonic Band is open to all students, regardless of major.
