UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Two episodes of a sports magazine show produced by students in the College of Communications at Penn State will air Friday, May 9, and Friday, May 16, on WPSU. Each of the different episodes will air at 9 p.m.
“In the Game” represents a full semester of work for students in the capstone course COMM 498A In the Game. Instructor Topher Yorks, a producer for WPSU, compares the approach of the programs to that of ESPN’s critically acclaimed “E:60,” with students exploring sports and societal impacts, or “60 Minutes,” the CBS News stalwart.
The May 9 episode includes segments on student-athletes at Penn State with international backgrounds, legendary wrestling coach Bill Koll, and Penn State men’s basketball player and Centre County native Kevin Montminy. The May 16 episode includes a look at a local runner’s participation in the Boston Marathon.
After the broadcast premieres of the episodes in May, complete episodes and individual segments from the shows will be posted at ComMedia online.
