UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries will host “Coffee Tour: Books and Brews” from 3:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19 in Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library on the University Park campus.

Students are invited to drop by to sample different brews and roasts and explore coffee from the health, historical, cultural, financial and sustainability perspectives. The event will feature stations about different brewing methods, hidden costs, the health benefits and risks of a caffeine habit, how people take their coffee around the world, history, sustainable consumption, and coffee facts and fiction. A a pop-up library with books available to check out will round out the interactive experience. The event is free and open to all students with no registration necessary.

The workshop is part of a larger initiative titled "The Informed Consumer" that is designed to help students make educated decisions as they transition into their professional life with topics such as financial education, information literacy, health literacy, and entrepreneurship. Librarians and student interns have collaborated to provide information and resources through Penn State Libraries to assist students in a variety of essential topics not taught in the classroom but invaluable now and post-graduation. The initiative also includes a blog that students may find helpful.
