Viewers pick favorite work at ‘Art Alive!’ local artists exhibit

Gary Steele, of Montgomery, received the Viewer’s Choice Award as part of the “Art Alive!” Lycoming County Juried Art Exhibition, held recently at The Gallery at Pennsylvania College of Technology.“Art Alive!” featured fine art in a variety of media, all created by Lycoming County residents.The Viewer’s Choice Award winner was determined by votes cast by those visiting the exhibition throughout its monthlong showing. Steele was honored for his ink and wax work titled “Steps to Wonder.” The piece also received third place from the exhibition’s prize juror.Steele’s work was selected from among 72 works shown by 24 artists. Artists were selected for the exhibition by independent jurors.Through Aug. 30, The Gallery is hosting “In the Field of Play: The Little League Baseball World Series Through the Lens of Putsee Vannucci, 1947-1990.” Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. The Gallery is closed Saturday and Monday.
