UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The McCourtney Institute for Democracy is continuing its virtual book club this month by reading “Why We’re Polarized,” the latest book by journalist and political analyst Ezra Klein.
An American journalist, blogger, and political commentator, Klein is the co-founder of Vox and currently serves as the website’s editor-at-large. In “Why We're Polarized,” he examines the structural and psychological forces behind America's descent into division and dysfunction. In his book, Klein argues that American politics polarized around identity in the 20th century, and looks at what that polarization did to the way Americans see the world and one another.
Book club discussions will be held June 24 at 7 p.m. and June 29 at 4 p.m. in Zoom. All members of the Penn State community are welcome to attend. Each meeting begins with a welcome and introductions, followed by small group discussions led by McCourtney Institute faculty.
As with any book club, reading the entire book is not required to participate in the discussion. Klein spoke with Lawrence Lessig of the Another Way podcast about the book and recordings of his book events are available on YouTube.
