Cameron Yon headed to NCAA outdoor track and field championships

Yon is Penn State Harrisburg's first student athlete to qualify for the NCAA outdoor championships

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Cameron Yon has qualified to participate in the NCAA championships in men's discus. Yon is the first Penn State Harrisburg track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA outdoor championships. 

A freshman from Patuxent River, Maryland, Yon won the men's discus at several meets throughout the year, capped off with a win at the Capital Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship and recently finished second at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship. He is currently seeded 14th with a personal best of 49.69 meters (163.02 feet).

The championships will be held May 26-28 at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. For live NCAA championships results throughout the event, check out the Penn State Harrisburg athletics website.
