UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State fans planning to attend any of the nine home events during Homecoming Weekend are encouraged to arrive on campus earlier than normal in order to assist traffic flow and parking.
The weekend’s events begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, when the No. 1 Penn State wrestling team opens its season by hosting Army West Point in Rec Hall.
On Friday, Nov. 10, Penn State will host three athletic events between 4 and 7:30 p.m., all in close proximity to each other and the Homecoming parade route, which begins at Curtin Road and University Drive at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, the No. 16/13 football team kicks off at noon, and the No. 1 Nittany Lion women’s volleyball match will start at 7 p.m. There are three more home competitions on Sunday.
This week’s home events also include the season openers for Penn State wrestling, men’s and women’s basketball, and the NCAA first-round match for the No. 3-seeded women’s soccer team.
More detailed parking and ticket information is listed below. Penn State Police will be directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic prior to and after the events this weekend.
Friday, Nov. 10, traffic and parking information
Penn State will host three home events on Friday between 4 and 7:30 p.m., with three in close proximity to each other and the Homecoming parade route, which begins at Curtin Road and University Drive at 6 p.m., in addition to the normal egress of Penn State faculty and staff leaving campus. Fans are encouraged to set aside extra time to arrive at the event parking lots.
The Jordan East parking lot will be accessible from Porter Road from College Avenue/Route 26 and also University Drive via Dauer Drive. The majority of the northern part of Porter Road will be closed between 4 and 7 p.m. for parade float and vehicle staging. Once the parade begins, traffic will be held up on University Drive at the Curtin Road intersection. Penn State Police will allow cars to pass through this intersection during natural breaks in the parade procession.
The Stadium West parking lot will be accessible from Park Avenue coming from the west from Atherton Street and the east from I-99. Several roads through campus will be closed for the parade, including portions of Curtin, Bigler, Pollock, Shortlidge, Burrowes and College Avenue through downtown.
Faculty, staff and students: Penn State parking permit holders will be able to park for free in the Jordan East and Stadium West lots for these events on Friday.
Men’s basketball vs. Campbell, Bryce Jordan Center (4 p.m.): Parking will be available in the Jordan East and Stadium West lots with a $5 fee for nonparking permit holders.
The Nittany Lions also are home at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, vs. Fairleigh Dickinson.
Women’s basketball vs. Siena, Bryce Jordan Center (7 p.m.): Parking will be available in the Jordan East and Stadium West lots with a $5 fee for nonparking permit holders.
The Lady Lions also are home at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, vs. Drexel.
Women’s Soccer vs. Stony Brook, NCAA Tournament First Round, Jeffrey Field (7:30 p.m.): Fans should utilize the Stadium West entrance off Park Avenue and identify themselves as women’s soccer fans to the attendant. Parking will be available in the paved lot as well as the grass lots south of Jeffrey Field. Soccer fans with RVs will be directed to Porter North parking lot.
Saturday, Nov. 11, traffic and parking information
Penn State will host two events on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Football vs. Rutgers, Beaver Stadium (noon) Homecoming and Military Appreciation Day game: For football game-day parking information, visit www.gopsusports.com/tickets/m-footbl-parking.htm. Stadium parking lots will open at 7 a.m. and Beaver Stadium gates will open at 10 a.m.
Faculty, staff and students: Penn State parking permit holders will be able to park for free in the Nittany Parking Deck and the Red-A lots at White Course Drive for the volleyball event on Saturday.
Women’s volleyball vs. Maryland, Rec Hall (7 p.m.): Women’s volleyball fans will have free parking in the Nittany Parking Deck, as well as in the Red A lots off North Atherton Street at White Course Drive. The gates will be open at both the entrance and the exit to the Nittany Deck on Saturday night.
Sunday, Nov. 12, traffic and parking information
Penn State will host three events on Sunday afternoon. In addition to the Nittany Lion and Lion Lion basketball games detailed above, wrestling will host Bucknell in Rec Hall. Fans are encouraged to set aside extra time to arrive at the event parking lots.
