UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team has been honored by National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) with the Academic Team Award. Penn State was one of 76 teams nationally that were honored.
This marks the 16th straight season that Penn State has been honored with the Award, literally every year since the award's inception in 2003. A team must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the honor.
The Nittany Lions are coming off yet another NCAA tournament appearance and a 12-6 season, including a 6-2 record in Big Ten games. Penn State had three All-Americans, six All-Region players and six athletes selected to compete for United States teams. Six of Morett-Curtiss' players earned All-Big Ten laurels as well.
