New Penn State women’s athletics initiative hosts 'Aspire' speakers event

'American Ninja Warrior' contestant and hedge-fund manager headline student-athlete networking program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — "Teammates For Life," a Penn State women’s athletics initiative, will host the organization’s first networking program in the "Aspire" Speakers Event Series series on Friday, Nov. 10. Jen Burdis and Jamie Parrot, both former student-athletes at Penn State, will present at the event, which is open to current women student-athletes, alumnae and the local business community.

Burdis, a Penn State volleyball alumna, author, educator and "American Ninja Warrior" competitor, will lead a “Mind & Body Habits” session in the Multi-Sport Facility from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

“I am looking forward to being back on campus,” Burdis said. “I am always trying to give back in every way that I can. Teammates For Life is something I support fully, and I am happy to help the women athletes in any way that I can.”

Following the session, Parrot, a Penn State lacrosse alumna and financial professional at Mane Global Capital Management, will offer a luncheon presentation on “The Power of Giving and Getting a Helping Hand” in the Athletic Administration Building from noon to 1:30 p.m.

“Teammates For Life is an awesome initiative and something I wish we had when I was an undergrad at Penn State,” Parrot said. “I want to help prepare other women athletes for success after graduation and in life.”

Penn State Athletics announced the introduction of Teammates For Life in August 2023. The first-of-its-kind initiative was created to celebrate, elevate and engage past, present and future Penn State women athletes. Teammates For Life is led by recently retired Penn State Field Hockey Coach Char Morett Curtiss.
