Nittany Lion wrestlers maintain No. 1 spot in national rankings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team (8-0, 3-0 remains the top-ranked team in the country in the Jan. 12 release of InterMat Wrestling’s Tournament Power Index (TPI). Head coach Cael Sanderson’s squad also tops InterMat’s Dual Meet Rankings. This marks the 12th straight week that Penn State, with nine ranked individuals, holds the No. 1 spot in the TPI.

Penn State holds the top spot with 117.0 points while Oklahoma State is second with 99.0. Ohio State is third, Iowa fourth and Missouri fifth.

Senior Morgan McIntosh is ranked No. 1 at 197 and is 16-0 on the year, sophomore Zain Retherford is ranked No. 1 at 149 with a 17-0 mark and red-shirt freshman Bo Nickal is ranked No. 1 at 174 with an 18-1 record, giving Penn State three top-ranked grapplers.

Red-shirt freshman Jason Nolf is ranked No. 3 at 157 with an 18-0 record and senior Nico Megaludis is ranked No. 4 at 125 with a 17-1 mark. Senior All-America Jordan Conaway is ranked No. 5 at 133 with a 15-2 record, giving Penn State six individuals ranked in the top five at their respective weights.

Junior All-American Jimmy Gulibon is ranked No. 13 at 141 at 7-4 and sophomore Matt McCutcheon is ranked No. 13 at 184 with a 10-1 record. Redshirt freshman Shakur Rasheed is No. 15 at 165 with a 12-5 record.

Penn State is now 8-0 on the year, 3-0 in Big Ten dual meets.
